How To Make A Garage Floor Level
Leveling out a garage floor can make it much easier to install any type of cabinetry or workbenches.
How to make a garage floor level. My wife and i built a house about 10 years ago and we have a 2 car attached garage. By using a permanent concrete overlay consisting of self leveling compound you can create a solid concrete surface that s inches above the original. And so when water drops off the car from rain or more particularly ice and snow it drops off onto the garage floor and starts to go in different low spots on the floor. The first step in leveling a garage floor is to determine the high point of the floor.
First the floor may be so out of level that the garage floor does not meet the bottom edge of the door. Once all the preparations are complete it is advised to use the epoxy slurry to fill in the spots. And the problem is is that the floor of our garage is not level. The epoxy slurry is a mixture between epoxy and silica sand therefore making it stronger than the concrete floor the silica sand works as a filler to the spots and the epoxy helps to smoothen spots.
Second and far more critical is when the garage floor has begun to tilt backward toward the house. When converting a garage space into a living area installing a framed wood floor offers an opportunity to add insulation from the cold concrete slab access for electrical circuits to any interior walls being planned and effectively provides a level floor platform over a standard garage floor that can be sloped 4 to 5 inches from front to back. You can correct this issue by raising the garage floor to meet your house. Unfortunately your garage floor may not be level with the floor of your household creating a possible tripping hazard.
